Jane Phillips

Deborah Jane Purvis Phillips, 62, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at her home in Tryon.

Born in 1951 in Jackson, Miss., she was the daughter of Mary Polk Purvis of Pearl, Miss. and the late Charlie B. Purvis.  A graduate of Mississippi State and the University of Alabama, Birmingham; she moved to Polk County in 1975 from Liberty, Miss. Phillips was a physical therapist for many years with St. Luke’s Hospital, White Oak Manor and Tryon Estates. She was a member of Tryon First Baptist Church.

Along with her mother, Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband of 35 years, Larry Phillips of the home; two sons, Grant Phillips (Olivia) of Tryon and Reed Phillips (Anna) of Winston-Salem, N.C.  Also surviving are two stepsons, Gabriel Lee Phillips of Inman, SC; Jeremy Dee Phillips (Jane) of Columbus; and two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Brittani Phillips.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus with Dr. Darryl E. Maxwell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 just prior to the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
