McDowell graduates from basic training

Air Force Airman 1st Class Shelton L. McDowell recently graduated from basic military training
at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Shelton L. McDowell is a 2004 graduate of East Rutherford High School, Bostic. He received a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from the University of South Carolina Upstate, Spartanburg, S.C.
McDowell is the son of Wanda Owens of Forest City, and grandson of Ethel McDowell of Tryon.
