Members of Foothills Music Club Inc. are celebrating the good news they recently received from the IRS. After filing an extensive application, the music club has achieved 501(c)(3) status, and has been designated a not-for-profit corporation, under the guidelines and codes of the Internal Revenue Service.
This accomplishment means that all gifts to the Young Musicians Scholarship Program of the Foothills Music Club Inc. are tax deductible for the donors.
Foothills Music Club Inc. was formed in 1988, and currently is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Recently, six outstanding musicians were named winners in the scholarship auditions; awards totaling $2,450 were distributed to the young people. Since the scholarship program began in 1994, more than $38,000 has been awarded.
The music club encourages area musicians to continue practicing their craft of music by providing opportunities for them to perform at monthly meetings for members. For more information about Foothills Music Club Inc., call President, Jeanette Shackelford, (828) 859-0461.
