Jerry Michael Spurlin 65, of Mill Spring, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening, Jan.  10, 2013 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Gaffney, S.C.

Born in Polk County, he was the son of the late Donald H. Spurlin and Ruth Hutcherson Spurlin. He was a member of Columbus Presbyterian Church and worked for Milliken and Company as a truck driver for the past 36 years. Jerry enjoyed football and NASCAR.

Surviving is his wife of 15 years, Marchetta Ormand Spurlin; one son, Jeremy Spurlin of Campobello, S.C.; two daughters, Casey Spurlin of Columbus and Nicole Pittman of Campobello, S.C.; two step-sons, Caleb Blackwell of Mill Spring and Chris Blackwell of Rutherfordton; one sister, Dale Bailey of Greer, S.C. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 14, 2013 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
