I attended the Unified Development Ordinance hearing at Polk High School on Monday, Sept. 17 and I was very impressed with the members of the board of commissioners. Despite the heated feelings and strong opinions expressed, the board members and chair Ray Gasperson made sure that the public had a chance to tell them what was on their minds.
I think it is necessary to bring sane economic development to the county. I do not believe regulations and zoning are synonymous with giving up one’s personal liberty but rather contributing to the greater good of the community. I do not want to see another Chocolate Drop.
