Donations sought for community mission work
Brannon Poore, owner of JB Trees, along with his team, is planning a church in Landrum called The Well. Poore said The Well’s mission will be to show Jesus to people through gospel-centered truth, love, giving, serving and sacrifice.
“Serving the community for Jesus will be the way that we change our city and reach a lost people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” Poore said. “The Well is committed to serving the city so much so that our first order of business before anything else was to buy an enclosed trailer and stock it with any items that could be used to love and serve the community.”
Poore said this trailer will contain many different items designed to make it possible to pull up at any house, trailer park or apartment complex and do local mission work or recreational games for neighborhood children. He said the organizers hope that by doing this type of work, they may be able to build relationships with people.
“Only then will they allow us to speak into their lives and offer the transforming truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” Poore said.
Poore said organizers have purchased the trailer but do not have the resources to stock it at the moment. He said they hope the community will help by donating items and funds to stock the trailer. Items sought include yard tools (rakes, shovels, gardening tools, etc.), cleaning supplies (brooms, mops, vacuums, trash bags, etc.), construction tools (hammers, screwdrivers, nails, etc.) and outdoor recreational toys for children (jump ropes, hula hoops, water guns, Frisbees, etc.).
