The District One administrative team, made up of school principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches and district office leaders, was in training on Wednesday, Aug. 8.
Each year the administrative leadership in District One Schools participates in professional development designed to meet the ever-changing needs of students and the research trends that affect education.   District One Schools partners with Milliken to use the training facilities located at the Milliken Research Center. Milliken’s facilities provide a “retreat-like” setting located close to District.
Mike Smith, District One board member and Milliken sales director, spoke to the group and welcomed them on behalf of Milliken. Mr. Smith challenged the group to “never forget your passion” and to remember that every day they have an opportunity to impact children.
The topic for the day’s training centered on “Inches, Feet and Yards.” The training provided for all instructional leaders in District One centers around continual improvement in academic and instructional support programs. Often that improvement takes the form of “yards,” where many large gains or improvements can be seen immediately. Many times the improvement is in inches and feet, signifying that improvement does not always come easily.
