Mrs. Helen Jane Nelon Nelson, age 82, of Lake Lure, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 12. She was born in Transylvania County. A graduate of Lake Lure High School in May of 1948 and from Edney Commercial College in April 1959, Helen worked for Cranston in Fletcher, N.C. and later at CP Clare/ITT, retiring after 40 years.
After retirement, Helen enjoyed working for Wicklow Inn and Fibber MaGees in Chimney Rock, N.C. as well as keeping busy in her flower and vegetable gardens.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 28 years, Albert Jerome Nelson; her parents, Jerry Clingman Nelon and Margaret Ann Brittain Nelon; one brother, Dana Jerry Nelon, and three nephews, Terry Michael Nelon, Whitson Sherrill Nelon and Clint Carter Nelon.
Left to cherish her memories are her stepdaughter, Helene Nelson Falzarano and husband, Lou, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Karen Edwards Ray of Lake Lure, N.C. and Carol Edwards Boissier of Lake Lure, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jean-Luc Boissier, Matthew Ryan Ray and Mary Rachel Ray; one brother, Kenneth Ray Nelon of Chimney Rock, N.C.; eight nieces and nephews, Kenneth Brandon Nelon, Jerry Dale Nelon, Larry Bruce Nelon, Judy Gale Nelon Laughter, Steve Allen Nelon, Sharon Sue Nelon, Clay Erving Nelon and Carl Bocchino. A number of other significant relatives living in Western North Carolina will also remember her kind and loving ways.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 at Cane Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 365 NC Highway 9, Lake Lure, N.C. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Concluding services will be held in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.crowemortuary.com.
