Concerning Tryon a ‘ghost town’

To the Editor:
Let’s all work together to solve this problem, but we need to ask some serious questions that got us into the shape we are in.
1. Why does the Town of Tryon visitor’s up-and-running website (www.exploretryon.com) fail to list any events for 2012? Why does the website currently list 2011 events such as the schedule for Summer Tracks for last year? Why are there no listings under major headings for antique shops, gift shops and other stores and services?
This website was paid for with tax money and has been totally neglected. The website was developed by a Washington state company and has obviously been abandoned. Why was a local company not selected to develop or now at least maintain the site?
If I was considering coming to Tryon and saw only last year’s events through 8/11 and nothing listed for 2012, I would not shop or visit Tryon. These are questions the town of Tryon officials should answer. In the meantime, let’s get this website current, promoting 2012 events.
It’s embarrassing to see!
