LHS Athletic Booster Club Golf Tournament held for 10th year

The 10th annual LHS Athletic Booster Club Golf Tournament was held May 19 at The Links O` Tryon Golf club. A record 31 four-man teams participated in the event. The Landrum Drug team, led by Dennis Burdette, won while the Dewey Smith team came in second place, breaking a three-way tie. Closest to the Pin winner on No. 4 was LHS JV golfer Will Owens. Closest to the pin winner on No. 12 was Dewey Smith. Barry Foy was the Longest Drive winner on No. 18. All golfers left with a door prize.
Corporate sponsors included Knights Apparel and the Susan Hodge Foundation; platinum sponsors were: Landrum Drug, Steve Wilson Electric and Miss Tammy`s Daycare; gold sponsors were: Green Energy Partners, Joe Cruisers, Carolina Concrete, Carruth Furniture, Marchel Industries, JB Trees and McCarty Painting.
Hole sponsors for the event were: Wanda Bradey – State Farm Insurance, Landrum Hardware, Correll Insurance, Landrum Police, Landrum Family Physicians, Petty Funeral Home, Landrum Lube, Jimmie Ross Garage, Mack`s Finance, Pete Inman Plumbing, Landrum Insurance Agency, Baker Chiropractic, Landmart Convenience store and Rep. Doug Brannon – State House District 38.
Jostens, Golf USA in Spartanburg and Edward Jones in Landrum provided door prizes. Lisa Gunter and Ag-South Farm Credit provided golf towels for players, as well as four gift certificates for dining in the area. Wayne Bracket and Coke of Spartanburg provided drinks for the event, while Bojangles of Landrum provided lunch for all golfers, tournament staff, the LHS competition cheer team, coaches and parents for serving as hole judges. Becky Wedde and booster club volunteers handled registration and tournament operations.
