Hugh Arledge

Hugh Arledge, 90, of Mill Spring passed away Friday evening, June 1, 2012 in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum.
Born in Green River Cove, he was the son of the late Harrison and Dora Bishop Arledge. Mr. Arledge was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. He worked many years as a brick mason before working at General Electric in Hendersonville, N.C., retiring in 1984. Mr. Arledge was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church, Mill Spring, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed gardening and taught shape notes.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Inez Moss Arledge; two sisters, Grace Metcalf of Mill Spring and Nelma Jackson of Columbus; one brother, Beauford Arledge (Helen) of Mill Spring; one brother-in-law, Vernon Moss (Joanne) of Mill Spring, and one sister-in-law, Floy Moss Jones of Inman, S.C. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 4 in Faith Baptist Church, Mill Spring, with Rev. Tim Gouge and Rev. William Kanupp officiating. Nephews served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the church cemetery.
