Green Creek Hounds (GCH) will hold an open house on Sunday, June 3 from 2-5 p.m. for all who live in the area. Members of the hunt said they want to share the fun and show appreciation for all the support received from the area.

GCH members say the organization is well known in the foxhunting world. The pack, consisting of English, American and Crossbred foxhounds, attracts people from around the country to this area for the chance of riding behind them and MFH Tot Goodwin, huntsman.

The foothills area of the Carolinas is a wonderful place filled with special residents and good hunting, GCH members say. The purpose of the open house on June 3 is to express the group’s appreciation to the community and to provide information to those who might be interested in participating. In May, the hunt hosted trail rides for those curious about hunting.

Ice cream, cookies and drinks will be available at the Green Creek Hounds Clubhouse. Puppies for children, young and old, will be tumbling about looking for affection. MFH Tot Goodwin will parade more than 60 hounds in a fenced yard and allow children to help walk the pack.  Those who wish may attempt to blow a hunting horn (it is harder than it looks).

Members will be on hand to answer questions about foxhunting. A video about foxhunting may be viewed in the clubhouse. Piper, the 2012 Carolina Hound Show English Entered Single Dog Champion, will be there to sign autographs, or at least to offer a paw print. Puppy handling and hound walking happen daily at Green Creek Hounds

The Green Creek Hounds is located at 1764 Sandy Plains Road, Tryon, N.C. 28782, east of the crossroads at Hwy 9 and 14. For more information, contact 828-894-5562.
