District One honors school nurses

Thursday, May 9 has been designated as National School Nurse Day for 2012. District One officials said school nurses work every day to improve the health and success of the students in District One, who face more challenging issues today than ever before. This year’s theme, “Advocacy, Access, Achievement: Making the Connection,” is reflective of the overall positive impact school nurses have on the health and well-being of students. “Healthy children learn better is a simple truth,” District One officials said, “and school nurses help to remove barriers to academic success. They reduce absenteeism, provide better attendance rates and care for students in school.” (photo submitted by Paula Brooks)
