Sunny View Elementary recently had a visit from newly published author Linda Martin and illustrator Alice Feagan. They presented their new book, “The Summer of the Rabbits.”
Martin said the story is based on a true event, when their dog “adopted” newborn rabbits and the family cared for them until they were big enough to release back into the wild. Sunny View organizers said the students were fascinated by the fact that the story happened near where they live, at the author’s farm in Mill Spring. In addition, the students said they were surprised Feagan went to Polk County High School.
Students asked many questions about both writing and illustrating and got lots of encouragement from Martin and Feagan.
“Everyone has a story to tell,” said Martin.
“Practice drawing everything!” said Feagan.
