Lauren Edwards, daughter of Mickey and Terri Edwards of Green Creek, was recently inducted into the Alpha Chi National Honor Society at Montreat College in Black Mountain, N.C.
Alpha Chi National Honor Society identifies students who promote academic excellence and exemplary character among university students and honors those who achieve such distinction. Inductees have consistently ranked academically in the top 10 percent of all university juniors, seniors and graduate students.
Edwards has received numerous honors during her studies at Montreat College. Each semester she has been named to the dean’s list or distinguished scholars list. The distinguished scholars list recognizes students who have maintained a 3.85 GPA during a semester.
Edwards will graduate in December of 2012 with a bachelor’s of science in music business and a minor in business administration. She will spend the upcoming fall semester participating in an off-campus study in Nashville, Tenn., where she will study in the executive track session. Executive track students work with artists in career direction and management; recording contract negotiations; planning, budgeting and producing artist demo sessions, and creating and executing a record marketing and sales plan. All students participate in an intensive road trip to a major music market, where they meet with record companies, artist management firms, recording studios, producers and artists.
Edwards is a 2009 high school graduate who was homeschooled and an upcoming 2012 graduate of Montreat College.
