Members of Djembe Jammers, a local drumming group made up of students and adults, recently participated in a rhythm and sound workshop with international percussionist and teacher River Guerguerian at Tryon Fine Arts Center. Students learned to feel the music led by River’s universal music theory and percussion techniques and participated in the evening performance at TFAC along with didgeridoo player John Vorus. The Djembe Jammers meet weekly and are led by teacher and musician Maria Freeman. Pictured from left to right are: River Guerguerian, Nathan Wolfe, Geoffrey Carey, Josh Lowe and Maria Thompson.
