Deena Harris, career and technical education coordinator with Polk County Schools, presented an update to the local Rotary Club on the role of the school system in helping students learn about career opportunities. Harris reported the focus has been quite successful in that students have been introduced to careers not previously considered. In addition, she spoke of the importance of the annual career fair sponsored by the Rotary Club, in which students meet and talk on a one-on-one basis with representatives from various career fields.
