Rejoice that people are drinking less

To the Editor:
According to an article in the Jan. 27 Tryon Bulletin, some people are concerned that the Columbus ABC store is not making enough profit.
I think we ought to be rejoicing that people are not spending their hard-earned money on beverage alcohol rather than trying to figure out how to get people to buy more booze.
At a time when churches, charitable groups and other interested parties are investing time and money responding to the many hunger and housing needs in Polk County, do we really need to encourage people to drink more?
