Inside the Tryon Fire Department Saturday, Jan. 21 volunteers from the Tryon Fire Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s office served up steaming bowls of chili, potato and vegetable soup to about 35 people in need of a hot meal. Sheriff Donald Hill also took several bowls to shut-ins around the county. Others came by for a bowl of soup and to drop their donation in the bucket to support another similar event planned for next month.
