Marjorie Boggs Lovelace

Marjorie Boggs Lovelace, 93, of Clemson Downs, Clemson, S.C., passed away peacefully, Friday, Nov. 25, 2011. Born in Shawnee, Okla. Nov. 15, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Wade H. Boggs and Louise Sheldon Boggs.
Marjorie lived in Columbia, S.C., Atlanta, Ga., and Shreveport, La., where she graduated from Byrd High School. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga. She also lived in Beaumont, Texas, Memphis, Tenn., Birmingham, Mich., and Glen Ellyn, Ill. She and her late husband of 70 years, Charlie Hirst Lovelace, retired and moved to Tryon in 1983.
While in Tryon, she was on the board of the American Heart Association for 10 years, a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital’s Thrift Shop and a member of the Tryon Garden Club.
She was a member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson, S.C.
She maintained a residence at 111 Church Street in Black Mountain, N.C. until this year.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie H. and Linda Lovelace Jr. of Seneca, S.C. and John S. and Dickie Lovelace of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend her memorial service Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Corley Center of Clemson Downs in Clemson, S.C. No formal visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Marjorie’s honor be made to the charity of one’s choice. Memorial messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.libertymortuary.com. Liberty Mortuary and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
