TCA brings world-class music home

To the Editor:
The board of the Tryon Concert Association delights in posing a question to members of the extended Tryon community: “What do the following world-class musicians have in common? The Beaux Arts Trio, The Chestnut Brass, the Swingle Singers, pianists Olga Kern and Jeremy Denk, the Vienna Boys Choir, the King’s Singers and Chanticleer?
The answer: All of these world-renowned musicians have given stellar performances in past years at our community’s wonderful Fine Arts Center for members of the annual concert program offered by the Tryon Concert Association.
This year the series will once again continue in the tradition that started in 1954 to provide the best music possible for our area. You don’t have to go to Charlotte, Atlanta or New York. These artists come here (often directly from those cities) to perform the same concerts you might here there. In Tryon, however, you see and hear them at less expense in a smaller, much more intimate venue. And the artists love it, frequently asking to be invited back. It is also possible to meet the performers in person with a special invitation to the “Donor Reception” following their performance.
The next concert for the 2011-2012 season will be Takacs String Quartet on Nov. 15. Subsequent concerts in this season’s series will be Stefan Jackiw, violin, and Joyce Yang, piano, on Jan. 20; and I Musici de Montreal (chamber orchestra) on March 22.
More information, including links to the performers, may be found online at www.TryonConcerts.org and the organization’s facebook page, Tryon Concert Association.
