Open hearts, homes to pets in need

To the Editor:
Foothills Humane Society is pleased to report that our Emergency Adopt-A-Thon Sunday, Oct. 9 was a huge success.
The community opened their hearts and their homes to seven cats and 19 dogs on Sunday, as well as nine cats and four dogs on Saturday.
That makes 39 animals adopted in a single weekend, and we could not have done it without the generosity of our friends and neighbors here in the foothills.
While this particular instance was an “emergency” Adopt-A-Thon, we hope your readers will remember that there does not need to be a special adoption event for them to come in and find a new family member to take home.
We always have cats and dogs at the shelter that need warm and loving families to call their own, and all of our animals have their necessary shots and go through behavior screenings. But if it takes a special event, our open house and next Adopt-A-Thon are coming up on Nov. 6.
We hope the community will again show how a relatively small number of people can make a significant impact.
