The Landrum football team got off on the right foot in region play on Friday night.
The Cardinals dominated Whitmire on both sides of the ball in the 45-0 victory. The defense shone as the Cardinals held the Wolverines to just 87 yards total, including just nine yards passing.
Offensively, the Cardinals spread the ball around evenly.  Six different players split up 156 rushing yards. Cole McDowell ran for 39 yards and Brandon Cannon ran for 46. Aaron Bryant ran for 31 and Jojo Wilkins ran for 21.
Landrum’s first two touchdowns were two strikes through the air for more than 30 yards. Cannon connected with McDowell for a 32-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He connected again with Clark Edmonds for a 30-yard strike.
In the second quarter, T.J. Fincher caught a pass from Cannon and took it to the house for a 75-yard touchdown. Cannon ran the second touchdown of the second quarter in from 4 yards. Wilkins followed that with a 2-yard touchdown on the ground.
Cannon tossed a touchdown in the third quarter to Jacob Lindsey for 30 yards.
Bryant capped the scoring in the fourth quarter on a 35-yard touchdown run.
Cannon finished 11-for-16 with 247 yards. Fincher had the one reception for 75 yards. Lindsey finished with three catches for 67 yards. McDowell caught three balls for 64 yards. Edmonds had three catches for 40 yards.
The Cardinals (5-1, 1-0) will be on the road again next week against St. Joseph’s.
