The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (UUF) will meet at the Tryon Youth Center on Rt. 176 on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Jean Rowe will speak on the topic, “Going Home.”
“Is it true that one can’t go home again? Or are there other ways of finding home? Much of life, it seems, is a quest for at home-ness, finding the place (or people) just right, finding peace and warmth and belonging. Many never find it. Finding the right vocation or avocation is a kind of homecoming, as well. There are activities where we find our true abode, and activities that just aren’t for us that we just can’t dwell in, as well. End of life issues are another kind of going home. We’ll explore these many facets of “going home,” and sing about it, as well,” said Rowe.
Following the 10:30 a.m. service, there will be a reception with food, punch and coffee.
On Sunday, Sept. 25 at noon, a memorial service will be held for Robert Shuford, longtime member of TUUF, board member and dear friend who died in early August following complications from diabetes. For information call 828-894 5776 or visit www. uutryonnc.org.
