Whitewater Day: Way to inspire stream stewardship

Green River Adventures in Saluda is offering a opportunity for local residents and out-of-towners to have a day on the river, while supporting Environmental and Conservation Organization’s (ECO) water quality work.
“There is no better way to connect with WNC’s beautiful waterways than to float down the Green River on a kayak,” said Green River Adventures owner Sara Bell.
ECO Whitewater Day will be held Sunday, Sept. 11. All proceeds will benefit ECO’s Water Quality Monitoring program.
“Most people in Western North Carolina (WNC) take our mountain streams for granted. There are literally thousands of them and it’s easy to think that we’ll never run out of quality water,” said David Weintraub, executive director of ECO. “Thinking this would be a big mistake. Our waterways are facing some serious impacts and one of the best ways to protect them is to be in them.”
