Rotary Club of Tryon Past President Bob Lair presents the Rotarian of the Year award to Charles Breuer. The award is given each year to the Rotarian whose service best demonstrates the motto of Rotary, which is “Service Above Self.” Breuer retired to Tryon in 1991 and soon joined Rotary. Since becoming a Rotarian, he has served as club secretary and as a Shrimp Fest volunteer, chaired the club’s Happy Dollar Fund and has served on the board of directors for the Rotary Club of Tryon Foundation.
