LUMC Minister Jane Jenkins recently earned the Denman Evangelism Award. The church congregation maintained their streak of being recognized by winning the Bishop’s Five Star Award again.

The Harry Denman Evangelism Award honors a United Methodist lay and clergy person in each annual conference who has exhibited unusual and outstanding efforts in Christian evangelism by faithfully carrying out the mission of “making disciples of Jesus Christ.”

To receive the Bishop’s Five Star Award, LUMC had to meet the following criteria: an Increase in Sunday School attendance and/or enhancement of Christian Education Ministry, A “new work” that impacts growth, members received by profession of faith or rededication (1 percent increase), emphasis on youth ministries and all apportionments paid in full for 2010 or a 25 percent increase in apportionment payments compared to 2009.

These awards were presented June 7 – 12 at the Annual South Carolina United Methodist Church conference in Florence, S.C.
