Darlene and FK McFarland will speak at the Tuesday, June 7 meeting of the Polk County Historical Association and tell the history of the oldest business in Polk County.

The McFarland Funeral Chapel celebrated 100 years of service to the community in May 2011. It all started in May 1911 when FK’s grandfather received his license as the first embalmer in Polk County. The initial location of the business was located in a house that once stood where the Tryon Federal bank is on North Trade Street.
