Rock Garden Society meeting May 21

The Southern Appalachian Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society (SARGS) will feature Annie Martin, “Mossin’ Annie,” presenting “Moss as a Viable Horticultural Choice.” The program will be held Saturday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at Flat Rock Village Hall, located at 2710 Greenville Hwy. in Flat Rock, N.C. (opposite the Flat Rock Playhouse).

Annie Martin is a business entrepreneur establishing a leadership role in the emerging moss industry by advocating moss as a viable horticultural choice through moss landscapes and moss-as-art creations. Martin is committed to sustainable agricultural practices in nursery operations and cultivation of moss as a revenue-producing crop.

Martin is the owner and CEO of Mountain Moss Enterprises in Pisgah Forest, N.C. She has a MA from Appalachian State University in educational media and a BA in sociology from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

Registration and coffee will be held from 10 – 10:30 a.m. The meeting and program will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.
