Multiple agencies responded to a fire at 170 Whitney Avenue in Tryon Friday, April 15 that caused both fire and water damage to the home.
Tryon Fire Chief Joey Davis said all residents were able to leave the structure without any problems and firefighters were also able to help the family dog to safety.
The fire occurred shortly before 1:45 p.m. Friday at the home of George McConnell. Captain Tim Wright with the Tryon Police Department arrived on scene shortly after agencies received the call to respond to the house. Wright found a fire at the rear of the multi-story home, according to Davis.
Wright reported that flames were moving up the outside of the structure and penetrating the attic.
The Tryon Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from Landrum, Columbus and Saluda.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
