Polk County High’s golf team went on the road on April 7 to a seasoned opponent’s golf course in Owen County. The Wolverines made solid decisions on the course en route to a two-stroke victory over Owen, one of the top teams in the conference.
The scores for the Wolverines are as follows:
• Brandon Britton – 77
• Davis Horne – 79
• Dylan Jones – 80
• Will Ballard – 81
• Will Trakas – 84
• Carson Horne – 88
The Wolverines’ score of 316 edged out Owen’s 318.
Senior Polk golfer Davis Horne said, “I feel like we really made a statement today. Beating Owen on their home course was very satisfying. Brandon Britton has been playing really solid for us and he came through again with a 77. We have talented young players as well as experience in matches. Teams know we can make a very strong run at winning conference. After all, our team motto this year is, winning ain’t everything, it’s the only thing.”
The team, which plays at Tryon Country Club, will continue to play toward the upcoming conference and state championship tournaments.
