Street dance at April Fool’s Festival April 1

Put on your dancing shoes and kick off Tryon Downtown Development Association’s April Fool’s Festival at the Street Dance on McCown Street Friday, April 1. The dance runs from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., but the dance contest portion, sponsored by Tryon

Fine Arts Center, will run from 7 – 8 p.m., so grab your partner and come on out. An entry fee will provide you the opportunity to tango, foxtrot, hip-hop, shag and line

dance. Prizes will be awarded to winners of each category. There is no age requirement so young and old can enjoy the fun.

Contestants will be judged on technique, costume, choreography and showmanship. Among the judges on hand to choose the winners will be Mario Girard, Argentine tango instructor at Zenzera Wine and Coffee bar, and former dance instructors Lisa Stokes and Lori Walter. Music will be provided by DJ Mike Phillips.
