Tryon Estates, located at 617 Laurel Lake Drive in Columbus, will sponsor the AARP CAR FIT event on Satuday, March 12 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the estate’s administrative building.

The event is open to the public and there is no cost. At the CAR FIT event, trained volunteers will, in approximately 20 minutes, talk drivers through a 12-point safety checklist to determine such safety factors as to whether the driver is positioned correctly and safely in the driver’s seat; whether they can reach all breaking, clutch and gas pedals easily; whether they know how to adjust all mirrors properly to reduce rear vision “blind spots,” and understanding and use of Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), now installed on most automobiles, as well as many other safety and fitness features of the automobile.
