The exhibit features a collection of fiber and glass art from more than 30 local and regional artists. The show opened Feb. 18 and will run through March 31. Showcasing stained glass, fused glass, jewelry, quilts, woven items, knitted blankets, linens and more, the exhibit is a representation of the variety of styles, techniques and materials that are used in both glass and fiber arts.

The inspiration for the show came from a recent discussion at the school about the commonalities found in so many crafts. The fascination with the similarities and contrasts in texture and pattern between glass and fiber seemed especially strong and needed to be explored through an exhibit. The collection in the gallery is the result.

Explore the show to see how stained glass panels mirror quilted pieces. Woven glass hangs beside hand woven tapestry, showing how much technique can change when using different materials. Colors fused in glass change just as they do when dyed in a silk scarf while other glass pieces emulate the depth and texture of knitted cables or embroidery.

The artist’ wine and cheese reception on March 4 will be held in honor of all the artists who have shared their work with the community. The event is free and open to the public; all are welcome to attend.
