Christine C. Gerald, 103, of Tryon died Feb. 20, 2011 at Spring Arbor West Residential Assisted Living facility. Born in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Bernard August Eggers and Christiane Warncke Eggers. She was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on April 30, 1945. Her beloved husband, Henry Melvin Gerald, preceded her in death in Tryon on Feb. 14, 1989.

She is survived by two nieces, Silke Schade and Ursula Wehr, and a nephew, Carsten Eggers, all of Germany. She also leaves two special lifelong family friends, Dorothy Jane Heidenreich and Eleanor Briggs, both of Hendersonville, N.C., and a host of devoted caregivers.

In accordance with her request, there will be no service. Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, N.C. 28731.
