Doris Byrd Williams, 81, of Tryon died Wednesday Feb. 2, 2011 at The Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. Born in Duplin County, N.C., she was the daughter of Henry and Nancy Byrd.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Linwood D. Williams; daughters Sherry Grainger and Pat Sutphin (Lee); five grandsons, Tra, Woody, Andy, David and Matt; five great-grandchildren, Becca, Lander, Ava, James and Zachary. She is also survived by brothers Dick and Harold Byrd and sisters Dinah Griffin, Peggy Williams, Jean Cole and Hilda King. She was predeceased by a sister, Iris Sanderson, and two brothers, Morris and Bill Byrd.

An announcement will be made as to the date of a celebration of life service to be held at Tryon United Methodist Church.
