Bowl a strike or a gutter ball. It doesn’t matter because it will make an impact. It will Start Something for a child in the community. Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Bowl for Kids’ Sake is about having fun to help kids continue on a positive path.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake has been the most significant annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Polk County for the past seven years. The event attracts area citizens who obtain pledges to participate. Everyone can get involved as a bowler on a team of family members, friends or co-workers; or as a sponsor. Students bowl at special rates.

It’s not about bowling. It’s about kids. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is an easy and enjoyable way to make a positive difference. Because of Bowl for Kids’ Sake, more Bigs and Littles can be paired up, more friendships can be gained and improved outlooks on life can be started.

On Feb. 26, Big Brothers Big Sisters will host this “thank you” party for fundraisers at Tarheel Lanes in Hendersonville. All participants will play two games of bowling (shoe rental included), plus receive complimentary pizza, drinks, a commemorative t-shirt and a chance to win door prizes donated by local businesses. Players with top pledges are also eligible to win special prizes.

All of the event expenses are completely underwritten by BBBS sponsors. That means 100 percent of the money raised by bowlers goes directly towards supporting children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters in the community.

To use the free system to set-up a team for secure on-line contributions, visit www.bbbswnc.org and be sure to designate your team for Polk County.
