With the new year comes one of the most popular New Years resolutions, to tame the bulge and to live a healthier lifestyle. To help with these resolutions, there will be a health fair at the Cobb Family Life Center at Green Creek Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2382 Coxe Road in Tryon.
This health fair, held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., was organized to help kick off the year on the right foot. It will assist many in making healthy choices and meeting personal goals.
Matthew Short of Forest City, N.C., and Felicia Hipp of Rutherford, N.C., will be the featured guests at the health fair. Short is a license personal trainer, motivational speaker and a graduate of Appalachian State University. Hipp is a registered nurse and a licensed aerobics instructor.
The health fair will also offer blood pressure checks, stroke education and glucose screening, as well as information provided by Pro Physical Therapy, Dentistry 2000, Chiropractic Plus, Curves of Landrum, Lifestyles Fitness and more.
There will also be a non-competitive 5K race, and a family and friends fun walk on the scenic Phillips Dairy Rd, located adjacent to the Family Life Center. Free lunch will be provided and door prizes will be given away.
The community health fair is sponsored by Unity in the Community. The event is funded by the Polk County Community Foundation.
