Thank you, Col. Charles Ross

To the Editor:
I read with great sadness today the editorial farewell by Colonel Charles “Chuck” Ross titled “An old soldier’s last letter.”
Several years ago I had the privilege of meeting Colonel Ross at Isothermal Community College, where he was teaching military history. On that occasion we had lunch together, and thereafter exchanged several phone calls and letters on different subjects.
Through his service in both military and civilian life, Col. Ross has abundantly demonstrated his love of country and of his fellow man. And though my acquaintance with Chuck has been brief he has nevertheless been a great source of inspiration to me personally.
I know that this letter will be but one of many thanking Colonel Ross for his many contributions, and especially for the thoughtful common sense editorials he has provided over the years. Our nation and our community is all the better for his life.
Colonel Chuck Ross, on behalf of all Americans, I thank you!
