Evelyn Pittman Tate, 85, of Tryon, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 in White Oak Manor, Tryon.

Born May 6, 1925 in Greenville County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha McClure Pittman. She was a member of Tryon First Baptist Church.

Surviving are: three daughters, Gigi Covil (Joe) of Tryon, Dawn Campbell (Carl Jr. Bud) of Landrum and Kathy Campbell (Jimmy), of Landrum; a sister, Rachel Williams of Tryon; two brothers, Clyde Pittman of Tryon and Jack Pittman of Diana, TX, and five grandchildren, Jill Carroll, Jason Campbell and Joshua Campbell, and Jordan and Jacob Covil. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Jessica Johnson, Vanna Carroll, Carl Campbell, Sarah Campbell, Amelia Campbell, and Skyler Covil.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Rev. Jeff Harris officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. just prior to the service Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC.
