Mary Lee (Maylee) Vernon, 70, died Sunday, Nov. 28 at Spartanburg Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC.

A native of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Rosie Lee Staley and Amos Staley Jr.

She held a few jobs during her employable years. She loved being a patient care attendant at Mt. View Nursing Home until retirement.

Mary leaves to cherish and honor her a loving family consisting of two sons, Bobby L. Vernon Jr. (Janet) of Inman, SC, and Gary B. Vernon of Campobello; four daughters, Sylvia S. Vernon of Spartanburg, SC, Wendy G. Vernon of Daytona Beach, FL, Carol R. Proctor (Charlie) of Little Africa, SC, and Cindy L. Shelly (Milton) of Wisconsin; one sister, Corine Vernon (CD) of Campobello; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one maternal aunt, Dora Miller of Chesnee, SC; many nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Campobello, with the Rev. Thomas Abrams officiating. Burial will follow in New Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery.
