All she needs is love

Wolfie and Trixie, a pair of sweet Chow mixes, were raised in a loving home. They spent years in the environment, giving and receiving the love that the right circumstances provide. &bsp;

Many months ago their situation changed drastically when their owners could no longer afford to keep them. My good friend Randy Grobe, who has been saving animals for many years, took on their cause. They were brought to the great folks at Bonnie Braes veterinary clinic.&bsp; Ian, Angel and their staff have been helping Randy with his animals as long as hes been doing it, and thats a long time. God bless him. I am grateful to count all three as dear friends.

Wolfie and Trixie were now just past eight years of age and I promised Randy Id look in on them and try to help find them a home. When I paid my visit, the staff at Bonnie Brae all commented on how sweet these dogs were and my visit with them proved them truthful. Unfortunately it is difficult to place older dogs, especially as a team, and eventually we accepted them at F.H.S. to try our luck. &bsp;

They spent a few weeks together under our care and behaved just as beautifully as when I first met them. We learned that Wolfie was high heartworm positive and not only was that handled but through Dana Mayer, we found him a fantastic rescue that accepted him. This left us with sweet Trixie, who was probably alone for the first time in her life.

We decided to put her together with Baja (who is now Prince) and these two great dogs got along beautifully. As you know from my earlier column, Best Medicine, Baja met Blair and sweet Trixie is once again alone.

No matter how busy I am or what Im doing, I make it my business to visit the sweet girl as often as I can. I and all who handle her give her as much as we can in the time allotted.

Come to F.H.S., and check her out. I know there is someone out there who has room for a sweet older dog. In this Thanksgiving season, youd make all whove come in contact with her truly grateful.

I pray you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. If for one have much to be thankful for a home for Trixie would add to that list.

For now all her amenities are being tended to. All she needs is love.

Thanks for listening.
