Bertha Thompson Walker, 87, of 150 Tom Thompson Dr., Mill Spring died, Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at her home.

Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Rosa Belle Mills Thompson. She was a member of the Ladies VFW of Mill Spring, and was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church.&bsp; She was the widow of W. W. (Joe) Walker, who died in 1991.

Surviving include two daughters, Brenda W. Smith (Glen) of Green Creek and Freida W. Gregory (Bill) of Mill Spring; one son, Bruce Walker of Mill Spring; one sister, Ruby DeHart of Asheville, N.C. Also surviving are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Gregory &bsp;

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 in Silver Creek Baptist Church, Mill Spring, with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.

Burial will be in Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 8 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.

Mrs. Walker will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
