Wishgrove will be performing on Saturday, September 25, at Tryon Fine Arts Centers auditorium. The show begins at 8 p.m., with an opening set by singer/songwriter Cabell Brand. All proceeds benefit Tryon Fine Arts Center, which brings cultural enrichment to the Foothills community. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the box office.
Wishgrove is a rock band from the mountains of North Carolina that writes, records, and performs its own music. The band features Tony Bell on drums, Mark McCullough on bass and back-up vocals, and Rich Nelson on vocals, guitar, and keyboards.
The group recently released its first full-length CD, I Lost My Head, which can be found on iTunes, CDBaby, and Wishgrove.com. Listen at www.wishgrove.com/ or www.myspace.com/wishgrove. The August issue of Bold Life magazine reviewed Wishgroves debut CD. The review is available at www.boldlife.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A15295.
Cabell Brand will open the show on solo guitar and vocals. Brand has played many shows&bsp; and his music can be heard at www.myspace.com/redcloudmusician.
Wishgrove and Cabell Brand performed at Rogers Park in July, and again in downtown Tryon to help celebrate the towns 125th birthday. The group says it is looking forward to the concert at TFAC. We are really excited to play such a beautiful venue, and help support Tryon Fine Art Centers mission, says Wishgroves Nelson.
The show will be filmed and recorded to generate material to enhance the bands video presence on the web. We want to play this and a few other shows and then focus on writing and recording our new material, some of which were already playing live, says Wishgroves McCullough.
The band recently put its first video on its new YouTube channel; a live version of the song Try from a recent show. Visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz2JUWqRIX4 to view the video.
There will be a casual supper at 6 p.m. in TFACs Farwell Garden hosted by the musicians. Tryon Fine Arts Center is located at 34 Melrose Avenue in Tryon. Call 828-859-8322 for more information or ticket sales.
