Polk Co. runners get going

The 2010 Cross Country season is off to a fun start, and what is more fun than a carnival?&bsp; Polk County High Schools teams celebrated with an inaugural race at the Western North Carolina Cross Country Carnival held at Jackson Park this past Saturday. &bsp;

The event proved to be loaded with excitement.&bsp; Here are the Polk race results:

Boys Invitational Race: Ricky Mozqueda, 18:39; Andy Conner, 19:26; Flynn Chapman, 20:09; Bruce Butler, 21:32; Robbie Franklin, 22:45; Kyle Whitson, 22:59; Sam Vining, 23:33.

Girls Invitational Race: Ashley Lynch, 23:15; Rebecca Elliott, 23:20; Cabot Lee Petoia, 23:47; Kari Malkki, 24:13; Casey McDowell, 25:21; Kara Garvin, 25:27; Jamie Hrobak, 27:27.

Boys Open Race: Kelby Orr, 22:46; Dylan Walker, 22:58; Nicholas Morse, 24:17; Conner Magin, 25:00; Nelson Leonard, 25:31; Jonathan Martin, 29:43; Conner OHearn, 30:05; Daquaun Williams, 32:34.

The Wolverines as well as the Landrum High School cross-country team will race this Saturday at The Eye Opener held at Milliken in Spartanburg.
