Ever recycle an airplane?&bsp; No? Well, thats what Mike Carruth has just done in completing the massive steel web and spider writing for the Tryon Little Theater/Tryon Youth Centers Charlottes Web, to play the Tryon Fine Arts Center July 29 through August 1.
Back in 2007 Carruth built the little lightweight plane for his wife Mariannes production of The Little Prince. Since then this rather magical airplane has been a play fixture in the Carruth backyard to the delight of visiting children.
But no more. With Charlottes spider web having been built out of steel a web theoretically spun by Charlotte herself, then of course the words Charlotte spins in her web to save piglet Wilburs life must be of the same material.&bsp; Enter the little airplane with its spun steel wings and body, ripe for being taken apart, recycled, and having another go on the Fine Arts Center stage.
E. B. Whites beloved Charlottes Web plays July 29 and 30 at 8 p.m. and July 31 and August 1at 3 p.m. For tickets call 828-859-2466.
