Polk County senior quarterback Andre Overholt leads a contingent of Wolverines who have garnered preseason honors from the N.C. Prep Football News yearbook.

Overholt was chosen by the publication as the Western Highlands Conference 2A Preseason Player of the Year after a junior season that included more than 1,500 combined yards and 23 touchdowns despite missing significant time with a broken arm.

The publication also selected Overholt, offensive tackle Tyler Philpott and linebacker J.J. Maxwell to its preseason Class 2A all-state team.

The Wolverines, who have been picked to finish first in the preseason coaches poll, return four all-conference players from last season Overholt (2009 Offensive Player of the Year), Philpott, Maxwell and Ryan Thomas.
