All area photographers, amateur and professional, are invited to participate in the first ever Polk County Barn Photo Contest.
As announced previously this spring the primary purpose of this contest is to photo document the aging barns in the county. Currently there is no written documentation on the local farm structures and the Polk County Cooperative Extension is attempting to record this information for historical purposes.
The deadline for entering the contest is Monday, August 16 at 5 p.m. All barns photographed must have been constructed prior to 1970. Only barns located in Polk County are eligible to be in the contest.
Each photo submitted must be accompanied with an entry form. There is no fee to enter the contest.
There will be an amateur and professional division of the contest. The professional prize money will be 1st – $175, 2nd – $125 and 3rd – $75.
The amateur prizes will be 1st – $50, 2nd – $35 and 3rd – $25.
There is no limit to the number of photos that can be entered. An individual can receive only one cash prize.
