A sting operation conducted by the Spartanburg County Sheriffs Department some six months in the making resulted in 123 arrests on drug-related charges throughout the county this past week, including as many as 10 in the Landrum region.
The identities of those arrested have not been released due to the ongoing investigation.
The operation, which began in September, culminated early last week with the delivery of 154 arrest warrants June 7 through 8.
Considering the way word got around, were pleased to have 123 people behind bars, said Sheriffs Department Public Information Officer Tony Ivey.
Ivey said the county was divided into quadrants northeast, northwest, southwest and southeast as 16 undercover officers began the operation that targeted drug traffickers suspected of dealing marijuana, crack and meth.
I dont think well ever win the war on drugs, but that has nothing to do with how we fight, said Sheriff Chuck Wright.
