As part of its adult and teen summer series of events, the Landrum Library presents Bop/Pop! Jazz Guitar and Beyond, a concert by guitarist Mark Guest, Tuesday, June 22 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Guest has played in venues and festivals from the Gulf Coast to the eastern shores of New Jersey. Now residing in Asheville, he was raised in Canada where he developed an interest in jazz at an early age. He studied with Canadian guitarists Lenny Breau, Lorne Lofsky, and New Orleans guitarists Phil DeGruy, and Hank Mackie.

Guest moved to Asheville after Katrina destroyed his home and says he is now enjoying post-adulthood playing his Ribbecke Halfing guitar. His music is rooted in jazz but consists of a non-standard repertoire as varied as the 1960s Hollies Bus Stop to blues icon Elizabeth Cottons Freight Train.
